It's Alive!!!!!
Let me say that the FC fining me every week for the last 3 weeks because of a lack of post's was a bit offsides, but I'm a big lad... yes bigger than last season even. So I won't moan about it to much. Rumor has it I whine to much.. Where's my dummy?
Plenty to talk about over the last while, a proper kit handout, at which the FC chose to pitch up so hungover that he couldn't drink (SHOCKING), Stocks finally introducing the MFP to his lovely home on the quaint estate that is Eagle Canyon. The MFP in true style left with an invite from Meegs to come back anytime. There was a bang up fund raiser with Barry Hilton, Well done Frank! Who knew that FC and Barry were in school together, kind of makes you wonder if Frank was bright or Barry was a bit slow OR are they in fact the same age?
In between all this a little bit of hockey. First game up was a goal scoring fest of 5 each, we won't mention the fact that the opponents didn't have a keeper for the first 20. Fritzy, the new import goalkeeper, was doing his level best to palm every shorty they had into the top of the net thus negating the need for the opponents to keep it below 18" That's about the distance from the tip of Murry's.... thumb to the tip of his forefinger. (Keep it tidy!)
The next two games saw some fantastic hockey from the mighty MFP, resulting in two easy wins, Alister, one
of the new boys, pitched up and claimed to be a striker, having heard that before there were some skeptics, but wonder of wonders he promptly scored! I stand corrected but that may be the first time ever for a striker, Sneaky snake has made a welcome return to the right wing, remarkably he seems to have gained a bit of pace, overrunning the ball at least 50% of the time these days.
In a bit of sad news, Nico broke his wooden leg.. sorry stick, we donated the artifact to the museum of natural history, it has been carbon dated to 400BC. There was a group of MFP's who wanted to burn the broken stick as a offering to the hockey Gods, but as you can well imagine Wanderers and fire don't really go well together these days. Not to sad though, Nico seems to have found himself another wooden leg.. stick to carry on for the time being.
Graeme Carver thought he would really splash out on Mothers day this year and bought his Mother down for a Fines meeting and a pub lunch (a bowl of chips, which the MFP devoured). Lovely Graze, top draw stuff! Just have a look at how happy Mom is, you don't get that much commitment from children these days.
Starting to take the season a little lightly and fearing the top of the log the MFP pitched up for the 4th game of the season against old parks a little late and more than a little hungover, a 2-0 loss with Grant and Dave Hazel owning the mid-field but our ever present strikers showing an absolute disregard for the goals, in Mallers' defense though he did take one for the team and broke two fingers. Andrew Johnson having celebrated his birthday the day before and being a closet... bulls supporter (how we let one sneak into the MFP I will never know) only arrived at the beginning of the second half, got on the pitch, swerved the same player 5 times, passed the ball over the dead ball line, fell over and substituted himself, lots of Madagascar Vanilla Rum later (thank God it's finished) and we got to see our first tiger. Good form all round Andrew.
Last weekends game against Vereeniging, started with an inspired team talk lead out by the FC, a little too inspired, as the bell went for the start of the first round, the umpires were having a tough time of separating the teams, Frank took a jab to the jaw and saw green for his trouble. The MFP were 3-2 down with seconds to spare when Andrew J came up with an inspired bit of hockey, eyes tightly shut the entire time, and scored an incredible goal. 3-3 the final result then with a great fines afterwards, I know this cause I can't remember it. Apparently there are pictures.
To this weekends game, with a special appearance by none other than Greg Carver! Going to be a cracker. Lookout for more posts in the future (my liver can't handle my tardiness).
