Get your motor running...

As any of you would've heard, we, the MFP, are a side that likes to sing. Pictured above is Frank in full cry with a hearty rendition of our newly adopted team song dedicated to our 400kg wall of defense: "Born to be Wide"! Yes, Club-night at the Wanderers Long Bar, a time for reflection on another successful month of hockey, beer drinking and bird watching... and of course Karaoke!

My head hurts a lot this morning - perhaps not as much as Davey Thomas's - but nevertheless. As a result I can't see straight enough to do any work so I thought I'd kill some time, before doing it all over again this weekend.

It was a curious night. Heavyweights Stoks, XFC, Fronk, Doug, et al arrived early, which is a first, their reason "Dinner Club"?! Apparently they meet every now and then, share a salad, smash a few bottles of Savannah Light and talk about how they're feeling, new casserole ideas, knitting patterns and common cures for runny noses. Pictured above is Douglas getting a bit of support from Frank in dealing with a "No Hair Day"! It's about sharing the burdens of life in the MFPs gents - good work.

Interesting to note guys, Harps organised a "Wine tasting evening" with his missus on the same night as club night. Fines Chair - you've changed! Thank goodness Lindsey is the woman we always hoped he'd find and she played out of her boots dragging him through afterwards to join the party. Have I mentioned that we have the best wives, girlfriends and female supporters in the country? No? Well I should've... we do!

By the time the Veterans had re-joined the party from the restaurant next door (or were asked to leave - stories differ), things had gone a bit south, with a full complement of MFP in sitting (more of us than arrived for the Cambrians game) climbing into the cheap booze like Marco into an ice-fridge. Nobody guessed correctly/at all so I bought myself a prego. And what a prego!

In keeping with tradition, I think it's only fair to say that one member of our side came very very close to serious action. Thank goodness we're a faithful bunch or the Long Bar could've been the scene of something the creators of the Excorcist have nightmares about. Check this out...

Gazza, sidetracked by the row of Springboks and Jeager-bombs on the bar, doesn't notice the sly advances of Brett to his right...

Suddenly, out of nowhere... the lunge!

It's life and death stuff at Club-night gents, never let your guard down... Brett, I think you owe Jen an apology!

Other news from the night: Nath stopped in for one beer on his way home (ha ha ha),

Trent brought his lovely missus along (Crumbs, more super-hot ladies!) for a more formal introduction to the team and, wisely with the likes of Brett around, kept her occupied at the bar for as long as possible.

And finally, the Hockey Committee members leading by example, Robs provided a display of public affection second to none. You go girl!

All that and one question unanswered: did Tanya join the party? The answer is yes, the Mallers's and Tanya came through looking as beautiful as always and... um... the rest is private. She reads this site I believe and I haven't phoned her yet. Let's leave it at that.

A big thanks to Lauren for organising another brilliant evening. Other thanks to Hazard, Rummsveld and the gate-crashers for pulling through. Biggsie, Jeanne, perhaps next time the Beavers and the Ballerinas might arrive?
