For Faxe Sake
Yes, it's childish - but let's face it, it's fun. Getting dressed up and hockeying our way through another irresponsible Sunday, this time Old Eds - always good value, 2-2 a diplomatic result. Apart from the 3 FTP's, you know who you are and of the "death" that awaits you, a good run for the MFP. Thanks to the Eds guys for a great game. The match in brief: the veterans arrived looking like they'd taken badly to the Springbok loss to the dirty underpants crew, a "brace" (bit of FC lingo there) for Mallers, a blinder from Man of the Match Trent who beat Commie - who's clearly happiest on grass - out of the award, Nath's return after a bit of a lay-off, late night Engen pies causing a bit of discomfort for a few of us, coarse language bandied around and old friendships re-kindled afterwards (cue the violin music). This game was old-school social hockey at its best.
So an 8:15am game right? Surely the fines meeting format would be amended to account for Sunday lunch plans? Not a chance. FC "Sensei" Harps, in a moment of boldness (it was his girlfriend's birthday: "Honey, I'm having a beer with the boys, I'll be home when I'm finished!"), roundhouse kicked that idea in the face, appropriately kitted out in the Punchy-Carver Karate Suit which he awarded himself for almost starting a fight with a guy who might just have been able to punch him in the knee, if he was standing on a ladder!
Other awards were the Potty, which Harps also awarded himself (and to Stoks, controversial!), the tiger which Grays won in record time, and Nataniel's gay play of the day, which went to me - I've no idea why!? Tin-Man marked his return to competitive sport with some inspired moments, the best being his chirp, 2 seconds before this picture, that we'd "run out of beer". Note the 4 red caps under his right hand - time to lay off the crazy pills Nath.
2 seconds... that reminds me of something... oh yes, Mallers, feeling the warmth of the Circle of Trust, let on in confidence that when Barry White is in full cry he can last a full 2 to 3 seconds! Apparently Lara's okay with this, as the following picture shows. MFP's, so much lunge to give.
Around this time of the afternoon (yup the afternoon - 8:15 starting to feel like quite a long time ago) things got a bit muddled - in the best possible way! There's really no doubt about it, we've managed to hook up some of the most spectacular looking supporters on the planet. That in itself is tremendous, but what makes our supporters just that much more amazing are pictures like this:
or this...
and how about this one...?
Crumbs - the absolutley beautiful Tanya played out of her boots/jeans!Understandably, the poor guys tryng to run their own fines meeting next to us just couldn't contain their excitement and figured the best way of getting involved was to... well... you decide what's going on there?!
Odd.As the party died at the Eds bar, "The Padded Cell", enjoyed that name, we raced back to the Long Bar for more beers with some guys from a Krugerdorp side that'd lost earlier in the day to a Wanderers team . Very blurry by this stage, although I did manage to secure agreement from Tanya to join us at club night on Thursday! If that's not enough to get you guys through, nothing ever will be!
Another brilliant Sunday - although arriving at my folks' place for family dinner looking like this did leave the family Pop wondering what's become of their oldest son.
